Born in Latvia in 1947, Georgs Pelēcis was apparently too young when my New Groves was published in 1980: he's therefore one of the few composers in my collection that doesn't have a New Groves entry! No doubt, he appears in later editions that I don't own, though. Regardless, his surname definitely has that little line over the second 'e', however (technically known as a macron).
