Analysis

The opening Chorale uses words from Psalm 50, verse 23 (so the translation here is lifted straight out of the King James version for that verse). The fourth movement is likewise a direct quotation from Luke 17, v. 15-16.

Opening chorus is attractive; the violin accompaniment to the Soprano aria is distinctive. The tenor aria is also good listening.

It’s all about seeing the glories of God and shouting about them in joyful praise: so it’s a happy and attractive piece.
