A good friend of mine in Sydney, Australia: a barrister with an immense love of classical music (especially Wagner and Bach) and defamation cases. Sadly passed away in May 2007, at which point I inherited his extensive CD collection (though not his equally large art collection, unfortunately!) When he died, he was working on Aktas v Westpac Banking Corporation Limited [2010] HCA 25, a defamation case that was eventually won, establishing the principle that -in Australia, at least- if a bank mistakenly dishonours your cheques, they can be liable for the defamatory statement ("This guy is broke!!") that arises when your cheques start bouncing.
